Static Bin Management

Products are set to statically binned by setting the SKU to use an Inventory Model where Multi Bin Storage is set to Static.

When a product is statically binned the bin is only entered once, on the product details page. This is effectively just a reference point for your staff, eg. we expect the stock to be in location ‘A /4’ and this will display on the scanners when picking.

Products that are statically binned have their bin set on the product details page, under Inventory:

Multi Bin Management

Products can be setup to use multiple bins by setting the SKU to use an Inventory Model where Multi Bin Storage is set to Active or Strict.

As the name suggests, Multi-Bin means a single SKU can be stored in multiple bins, tracing the exact stock of each. For example, you can store the same item, ‘Pencils’ in three bins: A, B and C, with 150 pieces in A, 50 pieces in B and 27 pieces in C.

Typically, you will want to ensure your warehouse staff are entering the origin and destination bin locations whenever they move stock, to maintain stock accuracy. Selecting Strict Bin Mode in an Inventory Model is therefore a good option for those wanting to insist that bin locations are nominated at all times.
